Christmas 2010

Beginning to look a lot like Christmas...lots more to do but finally have a start on it. It is important NOT to lose the meaning of CHRISTmas. We get so involved in the parties, shopping, decorating that we tend to forget the 'reason for the season'. The cold weather has come in ..thank goodness.. I hope it continues through the end of the year. I do so miss the cold winters of northern CA. Get a little melancholy this time of year. I miss 'home'. But, time moves on & all that is gone & we make our own 'home' with our own people & surroundings. Thank goodness for memories... hmmmmm, do you think that might be why we remember the things that happed year & years ago & can't find your car keys or remember what happened yesterday. Well, time to continue on with the decorating & shopping...hope you all have a great Holiday Season & a very Merry Christmas.

Walker Christmas Parade

Some of the Parade pictures. We had a great turn out this year. Seems to get bigger as the years go by. Looking forward to next year all ready.

We started the morning by serving gumbo n rice to the workers at the staging area. I think they said we served about 600 cups this
year. They started cooking around 7a.m. and we were ready to serve by 11.

People were coming to our area, drawn by the smell..wonderful. But, we had girls out with a cart taking it to the parking lot where everyone was working on their floats, cars, motorcycles and whatever they were going to be in the parade in. It is such a blessing to be able to do this for the public & have it received so openly. They were coming in & telling us how grateful they were, some wanted to give us money but this is an outreach from the church to the community. Last year we were freezing after a day of snow...this year it was beautiful...didn't even need a jacket until later in the afternoon.

Went to Wolf Rive RV Park in Pass Christian MS. for Thanksgiving. Had a wonderful time. I did have a cold on Thanksgiving Day & was glad I had cooked everything before hand. Just had to heat it up in the microwave & stove to feed Bob. I laid around all that day...watched football. The dogs were really good too. They are learning about this camping thing as we are. Thanksgiving was such a wonderful time to reflect on all the things we HAVE to be thankful for & also for those things we DON'T have. There is so much sorrow, sickness, loss of home, loss of family, loss of income. We may not have the life we thought we were going to have BUT, we have a great life, & nothing to be sorry about. We have one another, the kids are all healthy & making thier own way in the world. So we were able to join hands & from our hearts to our God truly say THANK YOU

A very special day.......

Oct 3 2010 was most likely THE most meaningful day of our lives. Bob and I were baptised. We have gone through so many trials since Jan 2009 that it didn't seem 'we' could survive, let alone be side by side with Pastor Wes of Revival Temple Church. We both know that without God, it would not be possible. When we came out of that water we were truly washed in the blood and it was all put to rest.It was a new beginning...in God, all things are possible.

Talk About Hot.....

Spring was here and ran.....the magnolia is done...the roses are begging for shade....

the elephant ear is doing good

I do not know what July & Aug will be like. We are already sweltering. The humidity is high so the 'feels like' temp is up there. Today is 95/feels like 105. Bob got the lawn mowed early & hopefully the regular afternoon rain will come in to water it. Even the dogs don't want to be outside & Dawg never wants to come in.
It is hurricane season & oil is in the Gulf...life, as we know it here is uncertain. What will happen tomorrow..how will some get through today. Time takes care of most of it...but who wants to wait.. There was no reason for this...so why have to take the Gulf life & bury it?
